Train traffic in our province is starting again. It was flat on Wednesday afternoon from about 12:30 pm due to a malfunction. There were no trains to and from Groningen.

According to ProRail, it will still take ‘some time’ before everything runs according to the timetable again.

Shut down for safety
‘Train traffic has been shut down for safety’, ProRail reported when the disruption broke out. ‘The Groningen air traffic control post is dealing with an annoying malfunction. We are working urgently to restore the systems.’

‘Eyes and ears of train traffic control’
‘Such a post is actually the eyes and ears of train traffic control. If that doesn’t work, safe train traffic will not be possible’, says Aldert Baas, spokesperson for ProRail.
