Train traffic between Brussels and Leuven came to a complete standstill on Saturday around 3 p.m. due to a power outage. This is what rail network operator Infrabel reports.
The disruption also affects train traffic between the capital and Brussels Airport. Three trains are blocked due to the power outage, near Nossegem and Zaventem, says Infrabel spokesman Thomas Baeken. A fourth train that was blocked has now been able to leave again.
All electricity stations along the tracks between Brussels and Leuven have lost power, which means that the power outage is probably “a higher-level problem”, at the supplier. In any case, Infrabel’s technical staff is looking into the matter.
Infrabel hopes to be able to put the Brussels-Leuven line back into service soon.
