Our Association after the latest publications – many of them full of inaccuracies blaming (not accidentally) train drivers – calls on OSE, Hellenic Train, RAS to make public ALL the findings (or evidence) they have about them as well as the communications between of train drivers and station masters.
The TRUST of the passenger public in the railway will be restored ONLY if TRANSPARENCY prevails and TRUTHs are told. The decision of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Staikouras, on the establishment of a special team to monitor the radio communications between the traffic staff (station masters) and the Train Drivers CONFIRMS what we complained about the communications and is in the RIGHT direction.
However, there is NO trust in OSE (which is actually controlled), especially after the recent leaks in the media about ALLEGED “yelling” in conversations between station masters and train drivers. Unless the Media discover screams in conversations that only – as in Tempi – the Management of the OSE owns.
Consequently, the monitoring of radio communications, as well as the examination of incidents with the corresponding issuance of findings, must be undertaken by an independent body (which will receive all the information from those involved), as is the case throughout Europe and NOT the OSE, its Administration which is completely unreliable.
