Train Driver’s Cab Access Attempted by a Man in BPOL-KL

Bad Sobernheim/Martinstein (ots)

On Tuesday evening, January 31, 2023, the Kaiserslautern Federal Police Inspectorate was informed by the Frankfurt am Main emergency control center that a person was trying to get into the driver’s cab of the train on the Saarbrücken-Mainz route and that the train driver needed police assistance. Since no own forces were available, the Kirn Police Inspectorate was asked for support. A patrol drove to Bad Sobernheim station and was informed of the following facts. A 24-year-old Syrian man attracted attention during the train journey by shouting loudly and making phone calls, which is why some travelers complained to the train driver about this behavior. The train driver then spoke to the suspect and asked him to stop his disruptive behavior. The engine driver then went back to the driver’s cab of the train. Apparently, the man felt provoked by the request, followed the engine driver towards the driver’s cab, banged the door several times and tried to gain access to the driver’s cab. To prevent the glass in the door from breaking, the train driver opened it and was only able to push the 24-year-old back with the help of a train attendant. As a result, an emergency stop had to be carried out at the BHF Martinstein. After the suspect had calmed down, the journey could be continued to Bad Sobernheim station. There, the personal details of the accused were determined by the officers of the Kirn police station and the accused then voluntarily left the train. The suspect is now being investigated because of the dangerous intervention in rail traffic. Nobody was injured in the incident.
