Train conductor attacked by passenger without ticket

(ANSA) – SUBBIANO (AREZZO), 11 NOV – A train conductor, on duty on the Tft company train, was attacked last Saturday by a passenger without a ticket: the railway worker was first punched in the face and then been sprayed with pepper spray. A train driver, who had approached in the meantime, was also attacked. It happened on Saturday on the train that connects Arezzo with Casentino near Santa Mama, in the municipality of Subbiano (Arezzo). The Bibbiena carabinieri intervened on site and proceeded to check and report the attacker. The train conductor has a three-day prognosis. “The attack suffered in recent days by a train conductor is yet another episode of violence that occurs on board our trains, which unfortunately is part of a chain of violent events that we have been reporting to the competent authorities for some time. We renew the appeal because urgent action must be taken to guarantee the safety of workers and travellers”, comments Maurizio Seri, sole director of Tft spa. “Already last August – continues Seri – following another episode of violence on a TFT train we wrote a letter to the institutions and the police reporting the concerns about safety on board the trains, especially on some of them, and in certain stations. Today we point out that some particular trains that operate from the Arezzo station deserve special attention”. Bernardo Mennini, president of the Lfi group of which Tft is part, also joins the administrator’s words. “We express our solidarity with the people involved in the latest attack and renew our appeal to the authorities and institutions to adopt all measures to prevent the recurrence of similar acts.” (HANDLE).
