The tariff conflict between GDL and SWEG does not stop. The union has called for the fifth time warning strikes, which are expected to start on Wednesday.
Train passengers in Baden-Württemberg will have to re-adjust to permanent disabilities starting Wednesday 2 November. The reason is that the GDL train drivers’ union has called for the fifth time the strike from 3 am. Train drivers, train operators and employees working in workshops, training courses or in the SWEG customer center are affected. Also forwarders of Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs GmbH (SWEG) and SWEG Bahn Stuttgart GmbH (SBS).
Stronger strike effects in the Stuttgart / Neckar valley network
SWEG has announced that, as a result of trade union action, operational disruptions are expected in its networks during the strike period. The Münstertalbahn is served by emergency bus services. Greater strike effects are expected in the Stuttgart network or in the Neckar valley of the subsidiary SBS. Passengers were asked to inquire about their connections before boarding.
Strike without an announced end
The end of the strike initially remains open, a note read on Tuesday. In recent weeks, the GDL has repeatedly called for warning strikes and, after a vote, strikes in SWEG. According to its federal president Claus Weselsky, the GDL does not want to allow any unequal treatment in collective agreements in the SWEG and SBS companies.
