Train Bridge Update: Extensive Damage Reported and Train Traffic Cancelled Due to Storm

The case is updated

It writes Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen.

The train bridge crosses the river Gudbrandsdalslågen.

GD’s journalist on the scene reports that one of the bridge pillars has suffered extensive damage.

Bane Nor has been informed of the incident.

– We cannot run work machines on the track now. It is of course closed, and has been since Monday to normal traffic. Now the most important thing is that no one is exposed to danger near the bridge, says Bane Nor’s press contact, Olav Nordli, to the newspaper.

He cannot say anything about the consequences for train traffic if the bridge were to collapse.

County road close by

A county road bridge runs parallel to the railway bridge. The police in Midt-Gudbrandsdal are on site to check the bridge.

They state to GD that they are worried about the bridge considering that the railway fire almost moved.

Large parts of the train traffic have been cancelled

These train lines are now closed as a result of the storm:

* Bergen Railway: Closed between Hønefoss and Geilo. New update Thursday at 10am.

* Raumabanen: Closed until Saturday 12 August.

* Dovrebanen: Closed until Saturday 12 August.

* Rørosbanen: Closed between Hamar and Røros due to weather conditions. New update at midnight on Thursday night.

* Gardermobanen: Closed between Lillestrøm and Eidsvoll due to flooding. New update Wednesday at 6 p.m.

* Main line: Closed between Lillestrøm and Dal due to partial flooding. Preliminary forecast for partial opening is Wednesday at 6 p.m.
