Roughly two hundred passengers had to be transported by evacuation train and went to Vysočany, where an improvised gathering place was created. Rescue teams had to go there as well, because some of the transported passengers also had health problems. Another ten patients were eventually taken from there.

In total, thirty-five passengers were injured in the accident. According to rescue service spokesperson Jana Poštová, injuries to the head and limbs dominated, and fractures were no exception.

The accident is now under investigation. “In cooperation with the railway inspection, we will find out why the trains collided. We will investigate the matter on suspicion of the criminal offense of general endangerment due to negligence,” the police previously informed on the X network.

The police later reported that the breath test of one of the train drivers was positive, so he was taken for a medical examination, which is connected with blood sampling. According to police spokesman Jan Daňko, it was not the train driver in practice who was under the influence of alcohol, but the second driver. He breathed 1.96 percent of alcohol on the spot.

On Thursday, November 19, the police informed that the criminal investigators had expanded the legal qualification of the case to include the criminal act of endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance.

“The driver underwent a medical examination at the hospital and we are now awaiting the results. The operations of the TŘ could only be carried out with him after a few hours, when he was able to do them due to his condition,” the police wrote on the X social network.
