Train accident near Chennai: Passenger train collides with freight train in Tamil Nadu; The coaches caught fire

Train accident: An express passenger train collided with a freight train near Tiruvallur in Chennai. The incident took place in Kavarpetta, Tamil Nadu. The Darbanga-Mysuru Express, which was going to Andhapredash, collided with the goods train.

Due to the impact of the accident, some coaches of the passenger train were derailed. Two coaches of the freight train caught fire. When the passenger train reached near Kawarapetta, it hit the goods train which was stopped there.

As it was night, the passengers could not see what happened. As soon as the locals and the police were informed about the accident, they started the rescue operation.

According to Thiruvallur District Collector T. Prabhu Shankar, the rescue operation is in full swing. Preliminary information is still available on the extent of the damage and casualties.
