HURDEGARYP – A large transport left the road on the driveway of the Central Axis near Hurdegaryp in the early evening of Saturday. Things went wrong when a trailer with a concrete girder on it hit the side of the road.
At the time of the accident, the driver of the Westdijk transport company was driving from the evening in the direction of Dokkum.
Major transport
The transport probably transported beams from Haitsma Beton. Because the Kootstertille bridge is not allowed to be used, transports have gone via Quatrebras in recent years. Because it is not possible to ‘take’ a turn to the south at the ove, we then set a course for Dokkum to turn there.
Merge lane closed off
The trailer on which the girder was located came to a stop between the merge lane and the ditch. The tractor remained on the merge lane. Police arrived on the scene and traffic has since been diverted.
Traffic on the Central Axis will not be affected by the handling of the accident.
Because the combination with the girder is very heavy, the salvage will probably take a long time. A crane may be required to lift the girder.
