kino.de News – “Spider-Man” title known and “Army of the Dead” trailer

Fans of the fighting game “Mortal Kombat” have long waited for a live-action film adaptation that does justice to the cult series. When Paul WS Anderson directed the first film version in 1995, it stuck closely to the template in terms of characters and worlds, but had to give up one of the key elements for a low rating: the ultra-hard violence.

With horror expert James Wan (“Conjuring – The Visitation”) as producer and director Simon McQuoid, it was now time to get the implementation right. Although the budget is said to be in the mid-range at 40 to 50 million US dollars, it is still astonishing and commendable that Warner Bros. has agreed to go this route.

The animated film “Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge”, which you can stream on Amazon, is also a success

And the first success has already set in: How Deadline reports, the Red Band trailer for “Mortal Kombat” generated over 116 million views on Youtube within a week – a record. This even allowed the previous records of “Logan – The Wolverine” and “Deadpool 2” to be set. No other Red Band trailer managed to get more clicks. The trailer is also said to have been shared comparatively often in social networks with a reposting rate of 47: 1.

“Mortal Kombat”: Actors react to the Red Band trailer

In fact, the trailer for the remake was also extremely well received, and not just by fans of the video game template. If you look at some reaction clips on Youtube, where you can watch Youtubers how they react to something, you can see that they inspire the fanservice in the form of Scorpion’s “Get over here!” And the scene with the blood dagger record, tape:

But Max Huang, actor of Kung Lao, delivered a very special reaction clip: Together with his fellow actors Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Chin Han (Shang Tsung), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden ), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Sisi Stringer (Mileena / Kitana?), Josh Lawson (Kano) and producer Todd Garner watched the Red Band trailer. And if the actors react so enthusiastically, that can only bode well:

The excitement even among non-fans of the video game template shows that the global audience is ready for duels between fighters with superhuman abilities that are far tougher than Marvel and DC.

“Mortal Kombat” is expected to start 8. April 2021 in German cinemas. However, if these are still closed, it would also be possible for the film to be offered via the partner portal Sky.
