Assigned to the night brigade in the center of the city of Lyon, the young woman had not been in training for only a few weeks, a police source told Le Figaro.
A brutal death that does not seem to be related to the profession that the latter exercised for the moment. And for good reason, before killing herself, the trainee police officer took care to leave a letter to her relatives to explain her gesture.

An open investigation
The Lyon public prosecutor’s office and the Rhône Departmental Directorate of Public Security have confirmed to Le Figaro the opening of an investigation to shed light on this tragedy in Lyon.
As a reminder, since the beginning of the year, about fifteen police officers have taken their own lives. No later than August 10, 2023, a peacekeeper also committed suicide with his service weapon on the premises of the police station in Fontenay-sous-Bois (Val-de-Marne) where he worked, had indicated the Créteil public prosecutor’s office contacted Agence France-Presse. The body of this 37-year-old man was then discovered by his colleagues around 10:30 a.m. “At this stage of the investigations, this gesture is not related to the professional context,” said the prosecution.
Earlier in the month, on Tuesday August 1, a police officer took his own life. The agent assigned to the police station in Valence (Drôme) killed himself in a hotel room located in Béthune (Pas-de-Calais). The victim, a brigadier recently promoted to major, had also used his firearm to take his own life.
