Tragic! Subway worker shot dead just because of Mayo

Two employees at a Subway restaurant shot with one other dead. It was after a customer was angry because he was given too much mayo or mayonnaise.

Reported CNNquoted detikTravel (3/7/2022), it happened at the Subway Atlanta outlet last Sunday. Police said the customer had an argument with an employee about the mayo on his sandwich.

Police were called to a restaurant near Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta shortly after the incident, at 6:30 p.m. Officers found two employees shot, and a woman was later pronounced dead in hospital.

“This is a very tragic situation that didn’t have to happen,” said Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. at a press conference last Monday.

“The suspect went into the restaurant (to) order a sandwich and something went wrong which made him very angry and took his anger out on two employees here,” he added.

Police arrested Melvin Williams, 36, on Sunday and charged him with murder, aggravated assault with a lethal weapon and possession of a firearm while committing the crime, according to court filings.

Medical examiners identified the victim as Brittany Macon (26). The autopsy has not been completed, but the initial cause of death was a gunshot wound, explained Bertram Ennett, a Fulton County investigator.

A 24-year-old woman who was also shot was in critical condition, police said. Her 5-year-old son was also in the shop at the time of the shooting.

Hampton said the dispute stemmed from having too much mayonnaise on the sandwich. However, the police stressed that the focus of the case should be on violence using guns, not mayo.

“It breaks my heart to know that someone had the audacity to point a gun and shoot someone just because there was too much mayonnaise on a sandwich,” said Willie Glenn, the Subway co-owner.

“They’re just exemplary employees,” Glenn told WSB.

There have been 74 homicides in the City of Atlanta since the start of the year, according to the latest release from the police department. The incidence is up 19% from the same period last year.
