In a park in Hamilton Heights, in Manhattan, a desperate situation happened this Saturday: a 15-year-old teenager was shot and killed.
According to information handled by the New York Police, the homicide occurred at 6:30 in the afternoon, in Riverbank State Park.
Shot to the full body, the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The man responsible for the shooting fled the scene and was last seen on 154th Street.
Parents and children screamed for help.
According to local media reports, a witness to the shooting heard at least five shots, which caused parents and children to start screaming for help.
One person tried to help the injured teen and called 911 in an attempt to save his life.
Park authorities also contained the victim’s severe injuries by performing a tourniquet and chest compressions. However, the entire process was in vain.
The NYPD has been unable to make any arrests and continues to search for the suspect. The reasons that led to the shooting are also not clear.
