A serious accident occurred Tuesday, August 22, 2023 on State Route 41 in German Township, Ohio, United States. The student was pronounced dead at the scene. According to local media reports, 23 other students were taken to hospital after being injured in the crash. The vital prognosis of one of them is engaged.
“An injury accident involving one of our buses occurred this morning. We continue to gather information and will share it with you as it becomes available.”local Northwestern schools had said in a Facebook post.
The bus driver was slightly injured. The driver and passenger of the car involved in the accident were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to CNN, the Honda Odyssey that hit the school bus is said to have crossed the center line. The school bus would then have left the road before overturning.
Classes suspended this Wednesday
The school district later confirmed the death of one of the bus passengers and announced that classes were suspended on Wednesday. “We will have specialist psychologists available to anyone who needs additional support during this tragedy”the statement said.
The institution then added that “primary and secondary schools will open at 8 a.m. for students, staff and members of the community who need help and wish to speak to a psychologist”then addressed their « prayers […] to the families who have been affected by this tragedy”.
The investigation is continuing to determine the circumstances of the accident.
