Six people were killed when a plane crashed into a field in Southern California, Saturday morning, before it caught fire.
The plane caught fire and nearly an acre of farmland caught fire before it crashed near an airport in Murrieta, in southwestern Riverside County, California, according to the Associated Press.
Video footage showed the plane completely burnt and charred in the middle of the fields, while police cars were stationed at the accident site.
The flight had departed from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas before crashing into the field, KTLA reported.
The station described the plane as a Cessna C550 business jet.
The six occupants of the plane were declared dead at the scene shortly after the burning plane was found just after 4:15 a.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The identities of those killed in the accident were not revealed.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
