A second soldier who was run over by a tracked vehicle during a NATO exercise in Poland has died, the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade reported on social media.
“We regret to inform you that on the afternoon of March 6… the second soldier of the 1st Armored Brigade died in a hospital in Szczecin. Despite rapid transport to the hospital and the efforts of doctors, his life could not be saved,” the publication says.
The day before, on March 5, during an exercise at a training ground in the Dravsko-Pomorskie volost, two soldiers were run over by a tracked vehicle. One soldier died, and the second, in serious condition and with multiple injuries, was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
Exercise Dragon 2024 in Poland has been taking place as part of the larger NATO exercise Steadfast Defender 2024 since late February. A total of about 20 thousand soldiers and 3.5 thousand units of military equipment from ten member countries of the alliance take part in them.
