Tragic Mistake: Shani Gabbay Mistakenly Buried in Gaza Attack – Shocking Revelation from Yedioth Ahronoth

The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” explained that the “Gabbai” family from Yokneam had been living since October 7 in the hope of finding “Shani” alive, as it was likely that she was being held by Hamas in Gaza.

She added: “However, her distinctive crescent-shaped necklace, which was found by chance, revealed the horrific truth.”

The source highlighted that Shani was not kidnapped, but was mistakenly buried with another victim of the October 7 attack.

Shani Gabbay, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, was working as a guard at the Nova concert, which was stormed by dozens of Palestinian gunmen and began shooting randomly, leaving a large number of dead and wounded.

Shani’s brother said: “At seven in the morning, my sister called our mother and told her that she was hiding in a shelter at the Alumim Junction. Several hand grenades were thrown into the shelter, and her friends lost consciousness, and with the last of her strength, she was able to escape.”

He added: “Shani hid with several other girls in an abandoned ambulance… but an RPG shell was fired at her, killing all those hiding inside… Since then, Shani stopped responding to us… We searched for her for several days to no avail. We concluded that she was being held by Hamas, after we did not find her among the bodies.”

He continued: “For 47 days, the Gabbay family believed that their daughter was being held by Hamas…and one day, social workers, a doctor, military personnel, and police officers came to us and told us that they had made a grave mistake.”

He added, “They admitted that they had actually buried Shani in the first week of the war, with another woman, whom Shani did not know at all.”

Shani’s brother highlighted: “I learned from the police that they found a charred, crescent-shaped pendant near the ambulance in which Shani was killed, about a month after the attack. They conducted DNA tests on it and concluded that it belonged to Shani.”
