Palembang (ANTARA) – The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) found victims of a jukung boat explosion on the Musi River, Palembang City, South Sumatra (Sumsel).
“Yes, today at around 10:30 WIB Endut (27), the victim of the jukung boat explosion on Monday 1 April 2024 evening, we managed to find after searching by combing the Musi River,” said Head of the Palembang Basarnas Office Raymond Konstantin when confirmed in Palembang, Wednesday.
He added that the victim was found not far from the location where the jukung ship exploded and also the Fuel Filling Station (SPBB) which is around 300 meters away. The victim was found dead.
During the search process, the joint SAR team was divided into several SRUs (SAR Units), where SRU 1 carried out surface searches using rubber boats and community boats, then SRU 2 carried out searches using RIBs with a search area of up to 15 NM.

“After all the efforts made, today, which is the second day of the search, finally yielded results,” he said.
He added that currently the victim has been taken to Bhayangkara Hospital, Palembang City for further processing.
Previously, Palembang Police Chief Commissioner Harryo Sugihhartono explained that a tragic incident occurred on Monday (1/1) evening at SPBB Apung Palembang when a jukung ship which was filling fuel oil (BBM) exploded.
“From the results of the crime scene investigation, we found sparks from the wood and anchor that exploded, causing the wood and anchor to be thrown into the SPBB,” he said.
He added that the initial point of the explosion occurred on the right side of the SPBB which suffered serious damage. Based on temporary investigations, the police concluded that the source of the explosion was near the end of the SPBB. Sparks that reached the roof of the SPBB concluded that the explosion came from the ship.
