Tragic Incident: Woman Sets Vehicles on Fire in Draguignan, Suicide Attempt by Self-Immolation

Two vehicles were set on fire in Draguignan, this Monday, August 14, 2023, around 9:20 a.m., near boulevard Colonel Michel Lafourcade, in front of the old media library.

Quickly on the scene to contain the flames, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Var (Sdis 83), then reported having taken care of a 41-year-old woman, “seriously burned while trying to extinguish the flames”. It was then evacuated by air to the Sainte-Anne Army Training Hospital in Toulon.

An investigation was then entrusted to the police station of Draguignan / Trans-en-Provence, to try to determine the precise circumstances of the fire. According to a source close to the file and the elements collected by the police, the rescued woman was finally identified as the author of the disaster. It was a suicide attempt by self-immolation.

The victim is still hospitalized in serious condition. His vital prognosis is currently engaged.
