The woman in her 70s who fell into a river in Aurland on Tuesday afternoon, died on Wednesday night at Haukeland University Hospital. The next of kin have been notified.
The woman, who lived in Sandnes in Rogaland, was on a trip from the Aurlandsdalen tourist cabin with her daughter and a grandchild when she fell into the river on Tuesday afternoon.
There was a lack of mobile coverage in the area, and the woman’s daughter and granddaughter therefore had to run some distance before they could notify the emergency services.
Almost two hours after the first report came in, the woman was found alive along the river – on the opposite side of where the hiking trail runs.
Due to the difficult flying conditions, it was difficult for the rescue crews to get to the woman, who was left for many hours along the river.
The police confirm that the woman’s next of kin have been notified of the death.
