Tragic Incident in Varna: Investigation Launched into Sailor Deaths aboard Dredger Milford

The sailors who died near Varna were in the ship’s hold, they fell into a pipe, the reason for which has not been clarified.

They were traveling aboard the dredger Milford. The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. last night under still unclear circumstances.

The ship, sailing under the flag of Belize, was moving in the direction of Burgas – Constanta. Immediately after what happened, he headed for the port in the maritime capital.

The crew of the ship is 14 people, all of them are Russians. The deceased were cooks and helmsmen, aged 32 and 58.

The ship departed yesterday morning from Burgas to the Romanian city of Constanta. When the accident happened, he was ten miles from Varna and was heading towards the port. Police and emergency services were waiting for him at the gate.

The information was confirmed by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Varna. Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted, an investigation is underway.

Forensic examinations have been ordered to establish the exact causes that led to their deaths. Actions are underway to establish the causes and circumstances under which the fatal accident occurred.
