Initially, one person was confirmed dead with two others sustaining injuries. However, during a Sunday news conference, authorities detailed the grim discovery of a second victim, who was later found among the debris.

Authorities were first alerted to a potential gas leak at around 6:42 a.m. ET. Responding to a call on Arthurs Woods Drive in Bel Air, first responders located the initial victim at the scene, according to Oliver Alkire of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

As responders were moving in, they began receiving multiple calls indicating that the gas leak had evolved into a significant explosion, impacting the surrounding community.
