Tragic Hit-and-Run Death of William Cruz in The Bronx: NYPD Seeks Surveillance Footage and Urges Public to Come Forward with Information

William Cruz tragically died last night at age 35 when he was hit by a driver who then fled the scene in The Bronx (NYC).

According to the NYPD, Cruz was driving a two-wheeled gasoline scooter and headed south Park Ave. en Belmont around 7:40 p.m. Friday when he collided with a black sedan that was eastbound on E. 183rd St.

Emergency medical services took Cruz to St. Barnabas Hospital, but were unable to save him. The victim lived in Washington Heights (Upper Manhattan), about five miles from where he crashed, he said. Daily News.

Collision Investigation detectives were scouring the area Saturday looking for surveillance footage that could help them identify the car and its driver.
