Tragic Helicopter Accident: Norwegian Investigation Agency Shares Pictures of Wreck on Seabed

On Saturday morning, the Norwegian Accident Investigation Agency shares pictures of the helicopter when it was found on the seabed.

The helicopter was of the type Sikorsky S-92A, LN-OIJ, operated by Bristow Norway AS, during SAR training in night conditions with departure from Flesland (ENBR).

The Accident Investigation Board has sent accident inspectors to Bergen and to the helicopter operator’s main base in Stavanger to start initial investigations.

On Saturday morning, VG reported that the wreck had been raised.

The Accident Investigation Board writes in an update that the wreck was located near the search position approx. at 20.15 Friday, at approx. 220 m deep. The wreckage was raised during the night and transported to Haakonsvern naval base. Preparation of the wreck and initial technical investigations will continue throughout the weekend.

A woman in her 60s died in the accident and five others were admitted to Haukeland.

On Friday morning, Haukeland Hospital stated that the person who was described as critically injured, is now described as seriously injured.

In addition, two people have been hospitalized with minor injuries.

Two people who were slightly injured have already been discharged.
