Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – 4 children of the fencing coach at the National Justice Club, Ali Al-Obaid, were killed after a fire broke out in their home and they suffocated while they were sleeping in Al-Ahsa region in Saudi Arabia, in a heartbreaking incident, according to the official Saudi “Al-Ekhbariya” channel via Twitter, Sunday.
The Saudi channel added that “the civil defense is investigating the incident and its causes.”
The channel announcer said, “The tenant of the house is a well-known figure in Al-Ahsa, and he is a coach in the Justice Club.” He and his wife were outside the house and tried to enter the house when he came to the house.
For his part, the owner of the house told Al-Ikhbaria that the father of the victim children was not at home and the children died of suffocation in the smoke of the fire.
The owner of the house described the incident, saying that it was “a great catastrophe, and we received the news with great shock, and one of the people told me that there was smoke in the house, and I called the house tenant and informed him, so he came and tried to enter the house, but he could not, and his hand was injured… The civil defense came and asked No one entered, and the Civil Defense entered as soon as possible, but the smoke was from about 40 minutes ago, which led to the children suffocating.”
The owner of the house stated that “the accident occurred at about 10:20 at night, and that the father of the victims came to the house and that he came immediately after him.”
He added, “The children were found asleep, suffocated, and those who brought them found them in their sleeping position, and they did not have any wounds or bruises.”
And Saudi news reports stated that “inside the house in Al-Omran City in Al-Ahsa, in which the fire broke out, were the sons of the coach, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Obaid, who are: Heba, 10 years old, Hussein, 9 years old, Layan two years old, and Rahaf one year old, and the fire started from the ground floor, then Extended to the second floor.
For its part, the Saudi Fencing Federation offered its condolences, through its Twitter account, on Saturday, to coach Ali Al-Obeid of the National Fencing Club for the death of his sons.
