Tragic Fire in Queens Sends Eight to Hospital: Latest Updates

After a fire that occurred this morning in a home in Queens, eight people, including civilians and police, were transported to the hospital.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 in the morning on the second floor of 164-40 73rd Avenue, in the Hillcrest sector.

It took the work of about 60 firefighters to control the fire.

The authorities confirmed that five of the victims belong to the same family. Among them there are four women, ages 7, 10, 22 and 46; and a 9 year old boy.

All were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man with burns was admitted to a medical center in critical condition, and two police officers are in stable condition after inhaling smoke.

The investigation to define the cause of the fire is ongoing.
