A fire in a building killed three people this Saturday morning in a building in L’île-Saint-Denis, a town located north of the capital. An important emergency system was put in place, two firefighters were hospitalized in “absolute emergency”.

Three people died and several others, including two firefighters, were injured in a fire this Saturday morning in an apartment building in Île-Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis).
A major rescue and fire-fighting system was deployed, mobilizing 195 firefighters supported by 60 devices, said the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis. The fire broke out “around 10 a.m.” in an “apartment building”, said the same source.
Two firefighters in “absolute emergency”
The apartment fire started from the 9th floor of the building which has 11, said the Paris firefighters. Two firefighters were hospitalized in “absolute emergency” but their “condition is stable”, said a firefighter spokesperson. Eight residents of the building were slightly intoxicated, according to the same source.
A security perimeter has been set up, the prefecture said.
A significant release of smoke was visible at midday around the scene of the disaster, according to firefighters. The prefecture urged residents of the area not to open their windows.
