One survivor, Nguyen Thi Minh Hong, told AFP that she and her children, ages 7 and 9, waited in a room on the seventh floor for five hours before help arrived. The electricity was cut off. She had tried to escape to the rooftop. But had to retreat back to his room due to the heat of the flames.
“I was so scared, we were in a room together for five hours … All I could do was try to console the children. mine by holding a wet cloth over their face,” Nguyen said while she was being treated at a hospital in Hanoi. “At that time we were between life and death.”
