The emergency services responded to a fire in a detached house in Trondheim on the night of Saturday.
– Smoke divers from the fire service have extracted one person who was inside when it caught fire, says duty manager Gunnar Sundli in Midt-Norge 110 central to NRK.
Police professional investigation manager in Trøndelag police district, Gøran Moen Grendal, confirms to NRK that a man died in the fire.
– It is probably the owner of the house, a man in his 90s. He was found by the smoke divers in the house at 01.58. Firefighting is still ongoing. The police will investigate the case to find out what happened, says Grendal.
The man was the only one registered at the address. Relatives have been notified.

– Burned badly
Operations manager Bjørnar Gaasvik tells NRK that there have been flames inside the house, and a lot of smoke.
– We chose to notify nearby homes, so that they can close their windows, he says.

– It has burned heavily inside. There has been a lot of smoke in the area. There has been no danger of spreading, says Olsson.
The fire was reported via a fire alarm which alerted a security company. The fire service has the fire under control and is investigating the cause of the fire.
