Several reasons

A shark was sighted in the area two days before the attack, but the beach was open to the public and considered safe. Experts believe that there could be several reasons why the shark attacked.

– The fact that the weather is cloudy, that fish are swimming past or that the water is dirty can all contribute to a predator in ambush being more motivated to attack, says shark expert Andrew Fox to 9 New.

The attack is the fifth shark attack in the area so far this year, three of which have been fatal.
