The “bloody holidays” continue: this time the epilogue for an elderly man who fell into a ravine is tragic.
He was working in the garden when, perhaps due to illness or perhaps a trivial loss of balance, he fell into a ravine overlooking his garden.
This is the tragic ending for the life of an 82-year-old Swiss citizen domiciled in Mendrisiotto. Lman slipped into an escarpment around 11 am on Saturday 3 July, while he was working in his garden.
The fall was disastrous, a flight of about twenty meters, which left no hope for the elderly. The news was given by the Cantonal Police, who rushed to the scene to provide aid.
A fall that left no way out
According to an initial reconstruction, as reported by the newspaper VareseNews, the man would have been intent on gardening in a land just outside the town when he lost his balance and fell.
The reasons that caused the fall have yet to be ascertained: an illness? Or something else? It will be up to the investigators to clarify the point.
Rescue arrived promptly, although unfortunately there was very little to do for the unfortunate octogenarian.
In addition to the aforementioned Cantonal Police, the agents of the Municipal Police of Chiasso intervened in support, in addition to the last units of the Mendrisiotto Ambulance Service (SAM) and the firefighters of Mendrisiotto Cantonal Fire Brigade Rescue Center (CSCPM).
