A 19-year-old drunk driver hit six people walking on the side of DN 1, at the exit from the town of Sântimbru, Alba county, on the night of Saturday to Sunday. Three young people died, three others were injured. The driver had a concentration of 1.06 mg/l of pure alcohol in his breath.
“On the night of August 27, 2023, at around 3:30 a.m., a 19-year-old man from the town of Oiejdea, Alba county, while driving a car, on DN 1, at the exit from the town of Sântimbru, near a gas station fuel, a group of 6 people, who were traveling on the side of the road, were surprised and injured,” IPJ Alba reported.
When the intervention forces arrived at the place of request, 6 injured people were found, 3 of them with injuries incompatible with life. We are talking about young people aged approximately 17, 18, and 25 years, respectively.
“After testing the driver with the breathalyzer, the value of 1.06 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air was found, and after testing the driver with the drugtest, it was found that the young man was not under the influence of psychoactive substances “, IPJ Alba informed.
Research is ongoing to establish all the causes that led to this event.
A similar accident took place at the end of last week, on May 2, where a drugged young man hit several pedestrians with his car, two of them losing their lives.
