Tragic Drowning Accident Claims Little Girl’s Life in Assiut Governorate, Egypt

A village in Assiut Governorate, Upper Egypt, witnessed a tragic accident, which resulted in the death of a little girl after she tried to save her little brother from drowning, according to local media.

According to the siteCairo 24The chapters of that incident took place, yesterday evening, Thursday, in the village of Munqbad, when a four-year-old boy fell into the Ibrahimi canal, and his sister, who did not exceed eight years of age, rushed to try to save him, before the two children drowned.

Immediately after the competent authorities received a report from the villagers stating that two children had drowned, a number of river rescue forces and security personnel went to the scene, where they succeeded in recovering the two bodies and transporting them to the hospital morgue, before placing them at the disposal of the investigation authorities until the necessary burial permits are issued for them.

Drowning accidents in canals are repeated from time to time in Egypt, the latest of which occurred about a month ago when a 12-year-old child drowned in the waters of one of the canals of the Al-Salam neighborhood in the Kafr Saqr area of ​​Sharkia Governorate, according to the newspaper.Motherlandlocal.

The children in the vicinity of the drowning accident reported that they were bathing with their friend in the water of the canal, and they all jumped and were able to get out, except for the child victim who fell without being able to get out of the water.
