“He had never accepted the end of their relationship”, this is the sentence that represents the necessary premises when talking about Giulia Cecchettin e Filippo Turettathe two university students whose traces have been lost since Saturday 11 November.
Speaking is afriend of Giulia, who bears the same name as her, to the microphones and cameras of ‘Mattino Cinque’. Giulia specifies that she doesn’t know Turetta thoroughly: Cecchettin had introduced him to her at the beginning of their relationship. Again, the girl did not witness scenes of jealousy, but she explains that Giulia often talked about the attitude oppressive of Filippo, one of the reasons why their relationship ended in August. “Oppressive”, moreover, is the word that Cecchettin’s friend uses at least twice to describe Filippo Turetta.
It was Giulia Cecchettin who broke off the relationship, and for this reason Filippo hoped that love would break out again between the two. For her suffering – he urges her Federica Panicucci – the boy would have turned to the university psychologist after an alleged suicide attempt: “I don’t know this,” says Giulia, the friend, but adds: “After all, he suffered because he was the part left behind.”
On November 17, Turetta’s name appeared in the register of suspects for attempted murder.
