Tragic Death of UK Malayali Nurse Who Came to India for Treatment

London/Paravoor ∙ UK Malayali nurse who came to country for treatment has passed away. Shimja Jacob (35), who worked as a nurse at White Chapel Royal London Hospital, died. She is a native of North Paravoor Koonammav in Ernakulam district.

Shimja, who had been suffering from abdominal pain for a few days, had come home on leave after NHS treatment was delayed. But before reaching the hospital and seeking expert treatment, he collapsed last Saturday. By the time he reached the hospital, he suffered a stroke followed by a heart attack and succumbed to his death. Shimja arrived in the UK on a student visa and had been in the UK for about five years. Shimjak, who returned home after not getting a job after his studies, got a job at a care home and returned on a work visa. After hard work, she got a job as a nurse at the Royal London NHS Hospital.

Parents are late Jacob and Fencita Jacob (Alashakodat, Edapally) in Kochuthundam Ward 11 of North Paravur Kotuvalli Panchayat Koonammav Ward 11. Brother: Shine Jacob. The funeral was held last night at 4 pm at St. Philomena’s Church, Koonammav.
