Venzo, from Vicenza from Cartigliano, had turned 17 on 29 June. In the race, he had finished the opening time trial in 87th place. He crashed during the first stage in line, 94.5 km from Haid / Ansfelden and Marchtrenk, along the descent of Mount Mistelbacher, about forty km northeast of Vienna. Immediately aided, he was transported by air ambulance to the Kepler university hospital in Linz but he did not make it and died in the night. The stage was naturally first neutralized and then cancelled.
Considered a talent, this year he finished the Giro di Primavera in 20th place.
On Saturday morning his team, Campana Imballaggi Geo&Tex Trentino, released a note to remember the talented boy: «Jacopo was an extraordinary boy, with a future to be written in sport and above all in life, and for this reason it hurts even more.
