Iran confirmed that the girl was brain dead. On October 1, Armita, who is of Kurdish origin, was attacked by the police while traveling in the metro with two friends. The civil rights organization Hengaon has alleged that the police beat up Armita for not wearing a hijab.
Eyewitnesses say that the police beat up Armita. But the police denied this. The explanation of the authorities is that he collapsed due to a change in blood pressure while traveling. The battered girl was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital but her condition is critical. Blood pressure suddenly dropped dangerously low and brain death ensued. Hospital authorities confirmed Armita’s death on Saturday afternoon.
