Thrissur: One of the three members of the family who tried to commit suicide after receiving the foreclosure notice from the Co-operative Bank died. Thangamani (69) died on Thursday evening while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Karukutty. On Sunday, Thangamani, daughter Bhagyalakshmi (46) and grandson Atul Krishna (10) were admitted to the hospital after taking too much sleeping pills. Bhagyalakshmi’s husband is Kathikudam Machingal Srivatsan
It is said that she had taken too much sleeping pills in her home-made stew. All 3 had discomfort after eating. Srivatsan immediately took them to Chalakudy St. James Hospital. After his condition worsened, he was shifted to Apollo Hospital.
In 2019, the family took a loan of Rs 16 lakh from the Kadukutty Cooperative Bank. Atulkrishna, who had congenital diseases, needed a lot of money for his treatment. Due to the difficulty of further treatment, the repayment of the loan was stopped. Due to the delay in repayment of Rs 22 lakh including interest, the bank had sent a demand notice.
