The tragedy occurred on Friday, August 16 in the afternoon. The services were called to a tragic accident on the DK 20 between Żelisławie and Siemczyno (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). It turned out that the driver was a renowned vascular surgeon from Kalisz, with whom he was traveling with two children aged 8 and 10. The doctor died at the scene, and the children were transported to hospital in serious condition.
The Mercedes driven by the medic collided head-on with a truck. The left side of the car was practically crushed. The driver had no chance of survival. Behind the wheel was Dr. Tadeusz Zaleski, a surgeon at a hospital in Kalisz (Greater Poland). “For many years he devoted his life to healthcare. His extraordinary charisma, knowledge and empathy won him the respect and love of both patients and co-workers,” wrote the employees of the Medyk Medical Center in Kalisz.

The passing of the valued surgeon is a real blow not only to the family, but also to those who had the opportunity to work with the doctor. “Invaluable in difficult times, he was always able to find the right words of comfort, bringing hope where it seemed to be lacking,” they wrote in a moving farewell. “The passing of such a wonderful man leaves a great void behind. We believe that his spirit will live on in each of us who had the fortune to know him and work with him,” they added.
Dr. Zaleski was also bid farewell by the mayor of Kalisz. “A specialist valued by patients, a man full of empathy. Respected and liked by his colleagues. He treated patients for many years in the Kalisz hospital and clinics in our city. Honor to his memory,” wrote Krystian Kinastowski on his profile. “He told me for the last time I’m operating on you. End your career,” recalls Adam Balski, an athlete.

The doctor is also remembered by grateful patients. Many of them owe their lives to him. However, the most moving words are those of the 60-year-old’s wife, who thanked him under a beautiful post posted by his co-workers. “It is hard to find a man as committed to his work, to which he devoted his entire life and for which he died between shifts,” wrote Dr. Zaleski’s wife. “Tadzio, my love will remain in my heart forever. You will finally get some sleep…” she added.
