– I do not know what to say. It’s just sad and tragic, says vicar Terje Elvestad to VG.
At Ringebu Ungdomssenter, the municipality has opened the doors to remember Anne Mathea Morken (21).
– Of course it affects all of us here in the village. When things like this happen, it is primarily the relatives, close friends and families who are affected, says Elvestad.
It was last week that Anne Mathea Morken was found lifeless in a side street in the Spanish city of Torremolinos. Her identity was confirmed by the police in a press release on Tuesday.
The death has triggered mourning in the home village of Ringebu, which has a total of 4,425 inhabitants. On Tuesday evening, those affected can meet in the chapel at the youth centre.
– First and foremost, they get to be together and share their despair and grief, and light candles if they wish. There will also be professionals from the crisis team, other church staff and other health personnel, if anyone needs to talk.
The vicar has specific advice for all concerned:
– Search together. Put the phones away and talk together.
Elvestad says that they have had ongoing contact with the family on a daily basis.
– We try to stand up as best we can in every way and be of help, comfort and care.
Contact was also established between the family and the Norwegian sailors’ church in Calahonda, near Torremolinos.
– They get the help they can get from there.

The municipality north of Lillehammer has set up a crisis team.
– We feel very much for the family, and our warmest thoughts go out to them. This is a deeply tragic event, and we are all genuinely sad, says municipal director Håvard Gangsås to VG.
Anne Mathea was active in the Ringebu-Fåvang Ski Club in her youth and participated, among other things, in the NM relay in 2018. She studied sports at Gausdal upper secondary school.
She has also worked part-time at Annis Pølsemakeri, the well-known meat producer and delicatessen in Ringebu. General manager Anni says that the death affects them all.
– Of course it affects Annis, where she has worked for many years. We are all sorry.
Spanish police worked for a long time on identifying the woman, before confirming that it was a 21-year-old Norwegian woman. Kripos has assisted in the work.
