A 24-year-old young man died when struck by an Intercités train at Saint-Césaire station, in Nîmes (Gard), this Monday early evening, we learned News17.
The tragedy occurred around 6 p.m. According to testimonies, the victim, a medical intern, crossed the track to reach the right platform, while she was checking her phone. She didn’t see the train coming. The small station does not have a footbridge to go from one platform to another.
The emergency services could only note the death of the young man. The police were still carrying out on-site observations at 7:30 p.m.
An investigation has been opened.
