Tragic Death at Taylor Swift Concert in Rio de Janeiro

A 23-year-old fan has died after falling ill at a Taylor Swift concert in Rio de Janeiro. This is reported by Folha de S.Paulo.

The concert took place at the 60,000-seat Nilton Santos Stadium. The girl was in the front row and at some point lost consciousness. She was taken to the hospital, but they could not resuscitate her and the girl died.

According to a nurse who was part of the ambulance team, the victim was treated at the stadium for about 40 minutes, but on the way to the hospital she again suffered cardiac arrest.

The concert took place in conditions of extreme heat even for Brazil – about 60 °C; emergency services personnel counted more than 1 thousand people fainting during the event. At the same time, on social networks, the singer’s fans complained about the ban on bringing water bottles into the stadium. The singer was forced to interrupt her performance to hand out water to fans.

Taylor Swift herself responded to the tragic incident with a post on social networks.

“I don’t have words to describe how devastated I am by this. I have very little information other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and too young. I won’t be able to talk about it on stage because I’m overcome with grief even when I try to just talk about it. I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I could think about when we decided to tour in Brazil,” the singer wrote.

It was decided to postpone the concert on November 19, which Taylor Swift also informed.

“The decision has been made to postpone today’s show due to the extreme heat in Rio de Janeiro. The safety and health of my fans and my team have always been and will always come first,” the artist assured.

As reported EADaily, at one of the July concerts of Taylor Swift’s global The Eras Tour, a fan of the singer went into labor. The girl was taken to the hospital, where she safely gave birth to a boy three weeks premature.

Taylor Swift’s concert tour kicked off immediately after the coronavirus pandemic. At the moment it is not finished, the tour will last until the end of 2024.
