Samir dissolved all the obstacles that prevented him from achieving his goal and marrying his beloved. He divorced his wife, left the family home in Sharkia Governorate, and moved with his second wife to live in the Red Sea Governorate after she objected. In the end, he killed her with 6 stab wounds in front of passers-by in one of the streets of Hurghada, after a marriage that lasted nearly 11 years.
The accused, Samir, is 39 years old, a Christian, while the victim, his wife, Nora, is three years younger than him.
14 years ago, Samir married a girl – in a traditional marriage, and they held a family wedding ceremony in Sharkia Governorate. Over time, family disputes arose between the spouses, as a result of which the wife left the marital nest and moved to live in her father’s house.
Barely the first year of Samir’s marriage had passed, when he saw Noura, who resides in the Al-Manshiya neighborhood near his house in the city of Minya Al-Qamh, in the south of Al-Sharqiya Governorate. Her beauty attracted him, so he became attached to her, loved her, and decided to marry her.
As Samir’s wife gave birth to her first child, he was thinking about how to relate to Noura.
Samir told Nora what he wanted to do. At first, she was afraid, but he reassured her, and she agreed. Samir tried repeatedly to convince his family of what Noura, whom he loves, represents to him, and of what he intends to do, to no avail.
Without the consent of his family, Samir married Noura and they moved – with his child from his first wife – to live in Hurghada, and they had three children.
In the beginning, the life of the couple was blissful and stable. The husband worked in a fish shop on Hijaz Street in Hurghada, while his wife took care of the affairs of the four children, in addition to helping the husband in the shop’s business.
Gradually, problems became known through the stable family, after the husband got to know bad friends and became addicted to drugs, so he left work and became constantly assaulting his wife whenever she asked him to quit addiction and return to work in the shop.
The wife alone bore the responsibility of working in the shop and raising the four children, while her husband spent most of his time with bad friends.
The hands of the clock indicate one o’clock in the afternoon of last May 14, and while the wife was practicing her work in the shop, the husband came, and his wife scolded him, and a quarrel broke out between them, so the husband pulled a knife from inside the shop and dealt his wife 5 separate stab wounds in the body before stabbing her with a stab in the neck.
On a bed in the intensive care unit in a hospital in Hurghada, Nora’s body lay with resuscitation tubes hanging from it, covered by the marks of her husband’s stab wounds. This is how Noura spent her last hour before she died, after the doctors were unable to provide her with first aid.
The people informed the emergency police, so a security force moved immediately and was able to arrest the accused. By confronting him, he confessed to committing the incident due to family disputes.
Referring to the Public Prosecution, it decided to detain the accused pending investigations.
