It was during the Sardinia Supercar Tour – a race where luxury cars run from Teulada to Olbia in Sardinia – that the horrific incident occurred on Monday 2 October.
The Swiss couple Markus (67) and Melissa Krautli (63) had planned their holiday trip to the Italian Mediterranean island. The news agency Jam Press reports that the couple rented a Ferrari to take part in the race, which takes place over three days.
But the supercar adventure was to end in tragedy along State Road 195, near San Giovanni Suergiu in the south of Sardinia.
Luxury in a row
The incident was captured in its entirety by a fellow road user. You can see the video at the top of the case.
In the mobile video, we first see three cars in the luxury class driving past in turn, then getting behind a motorhome further ahead.
Then a blue Lamborghini arrives and sits in front of the camera. Afterwards, it became known that Bollywood star Gayatri Joshi (46) and her husband Vikas Oberoi are in the car.

Soon after, the first three cars slip past the motorhome by speeding into the opposite lane on the well-trafficked stretch. When the Lamborghini tries the same thing, it goes horribly wrong.

The recording shows how Josji and Oberoi turn left to pass the motorhome. But they don’t see the red Ferrari with the Krautli couple coming up from behind.
In the next moment, a startled gasp is heard from the woman with the mobile camera as we see the two luxury craft collide.

The impact sends the Lamborghini straight into the motorhome, which spins around and tips over. Clouds of dust are thrown into the air when parts of the large vehicle hit the dry ground next to the road.
The damaged Lamborghini rolls onto the side of the road just behind the overturned motorhome.

Gayatri Josji (46) and her husband amazingly escaped the accident unscathed.
– Vikas and I are in Italy. We got into an accident here, she tells Free Press Journal.

The actor assures that the couple are “perfectly fine”.
– By God’s grace, we are both fine.
Jam Press reports that the Italian tourist couple in the motorhome were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Became the prey of the flames
For the red Ferrari, the journey ended up behind the overturned motorhome and can therefore not be seen in the video recording. Local Italian media write that the car should have started to burn shortly after the collision.
According to Evening Standard burned the Swiss couple to death.

A mobile phone recording from the scene of the accident shows the Ferrari completely engulfed in flames and black smoke. Nearby, shocked onlookers can be seen staring helplessly.
Jam Press writes that the three wrecked cars have been seized by Italian police who are investigating the accident.
