At least 17 people were killed and many are missing in the Indian state of Mizoram on Wednesday when a railway bridge over a gorge collapsed during construction work, officials said.
The dead are workers. The Indian Express newspaper reports that around 40 people were working on the bridge when it collapsed and many workers are missing.
The rescue operation continues.
