Tragic Church Roof Collapse in Mexican City of Ciudad Madero: 7 Dead, 10 Injured, and 20 Missing

At least seven people were killed in the Mexican city of Ciudad Madero on Sunday when the roof of a church collapsed during a baptismal service.

At least ten people were also injured, according to authorities. Rescue workers search the rubble of the church for survivors. Local media report that at least twenty people are missing.

Shortly after the roof collapsed, the walls of the building also collapsed. This can be seen on video footage circulating on social media.

According to Bishop Jose Armando Alvarez of the neighboring city of Tampico, the Santa Cruz Church collapsed as the faithful went to collect a host from the priest. According to local media, a baptism ceremony was underway.

Ciudad Madero is a city of about 190,000 inhabitants on the east coast of Mexico.
