On July 1, Polish authorities announced that the incident was being treated as a murder-suicide. The Swedish police, who are investigating the events, also believe that the mother may have deliberately pushed her son into the water and then committed suicide by jumping after him.
Swedish and Polish prosecutors are investigating the case. The Polish media “Fakt” found out that on August 4, the bodies of the mother and child were brought to Gdansk, Poland.
The autopsy of the remains of the two Polish citizens began on August 8, the Polish prosecutor announced. He added that the prosecutor’s office has not yet received the results of the autopsy performed by the Swedish authorities.
The Polish Prosecutor’s Office also obtained the documentation created and obtained during the investigation from the Swedish authorities, which was translated into Polish by a sworn Swedish translator in August. The duration of the translation cannot be specified at the moment due to the amount of material provided.
Before issuing the opinion, the Polish Prosecutor’s Office will also get acquainted with the opinions of the Swedish side.
