NEW YORK — One person was killed and 46 were injured, five of them seriously, after a bus went down an embankment and overturned in Orange County Thursday afternoon, according to County Executive Steve Neuhaus.
The accident was reported around 1:20 p.m. and resulted in I-84 in Orange County in Wawayanda being closed to westbound traffic from Exit 15, according to a message from the New York State Police. .
Members of Farmingdale High School were on board the bus, although the number is unknown, according to sources at the school located on Long Island.
The person who lost his life in the accident was an adult.
