Tragic Brooklyn Construction Site Floor Collapse Leaves One Worker Dead

The partial collapse of a floor of a building under construction left one worker dead in Brooklyn.

According to the New York Fire Department, the accident was reported at 12:10 p.m. at a construction site located at 1266 50th Street in the Borough Park area.

Joseph Ferrante, spokesman for the FDNY, explained that they received several 911 calls reporting the collapse.

Upon arrival they found the worker already dead.

“We arrived a few minutes later and learned of at least one trapped person working on the first floor, we began to move the rubble and removed a victim,” he explained.

He added that after the removal of the rubble, no other victim was found and no further damage to the structure was reported.

He explained that the structure collapsed in a V shape, meaning that it was the center that collapsed.

The deceased worker has not been identified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
